Top Ten Cities to Visit in 2017
Scenic Clubs magazine “Wonder”, recently published their Winter issue and have named the top ten cities to visit in 2017!
With so many amazing places to travel in the world it’s hard to believe they could narrow it down to ten! Each of these cities have their own unique characteristics that could change your travel plans this year!
First on Scenic Clubs list is Cape Town, South Africa. Cape Town is the second largest city in South Africa and offers beautiful beaches, mountains and culture. Table Mountain is Cape Towns most famous natural trademark and if you are wanting to see spectacular views, guests can take an aerial tram up the mountain and experience 360 degree views. You can capture the beauty of Cape Town’s outdoors and sleep under the stars by staying at Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve. Who comes in fourth you ask? Budapest, Hungary! Also, known as “Little Paris of Middle Europe.” Recently, Budapest’s dining scene has erupted and is now considered a culinary universe. Make sure to check out Onyx restaurant, also known as the ‘Hungarian Revolution,’ with Eastern European cuisine being run through a molecular gastronomy lab.
Taking fifth place is Phnom Penh, Cambodia located on the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers. Phnom Penh’s Royal Palace dominates the cities skyline. The official residence of King Sihamoni, visitors are only able to view the throne hall that is used for coronations and ceremonies such as the presentation of credentials by diplomats.
Bruges, Belgium scores sixth place with its fairy tale like atmosphere. Bruges has picturesque cobbled lanes and dreamy canals with historic churches and whitewashed almshouses. Need a moment to relax from all your adventures? Make sure to visit the Begijnhof, a 13th century old tranquil garden that offers a carpet of daffodils in the spring time.
Climbing its way to seventh is Lima, Peru! Lima is a stepping stone to the famous Machu Picchu historic sanctuary an Incan city surrounded by temples, terraces and water channels built on a mountain top. After that climb, don’t forget to indulge in the Peruvian Gastronomy as it is considered the best in the world!
Still stuck in a fairy tale dream? Good! Prague, Czech Republic is eighth on the list also known for its fairy tale like features. Prague’s Old Town Square is one of Europe’s biggest and most beautiful spaces and has been around since the 10th century. No fairy tale is complete without a castle, so be sure to visit the famous Prague Castle!
For all of you wine lovers, Queenstown, New Zealand landed ninth place! The region is home to 75 wineries including Queenstown’s premier winery Amisfield. Amisfield is surrounded by stunning scenery with a breathtaking mountain backdrop.
Last but certainly not least, is beautiful Moscow, Russia! Located on the Mokva River in Western Russia, Moscow is the nations cosmopolitan capital. Home to the Kremlin where the president resides and Red Square, Russia’s symbolic centre with Lennon’s Mausoleum and St. Basils Cathedral. Make sure you don’t overlook this breathtaking capital!
