Melanoma Awareness Month
Be sure to take all precautions in protecting your skin because May is the official month of Melanoma awareness! If you are not fully aware if what Melanoma is, this disease starts with the DNA of melanocytes; the cells that are responsible for your hair and skin’s colour. When its DNA is damaged, it causes the cells to grow uncontrollably leading to malignant tumors.
This year Dragonfly teamed up with the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund (DCMF) to kick off the month with a spectacular fundraiser. DCMF is a charity “devoted to saving lives from melanoma through prevention and research”. Dragonfly was more than thrilled to show their support by offering pro bono logistics assistance in helping create an unforgettable experience. This year was extra special as it marked the 10-year anniversary for the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund. Naturally this year’s fundraiser, Thursday Night Lights, which took place on Thursday, May 11th, was most definitely a celebration worthy of a 10th anniversary!
Guests were welcomed to a night under the lights at 2nd Floor Events, where strings of warm lights hung from the rafters. The venue was bustling with excitement and the featured entertainment, Parkside Drive, brought all the guests together to enjoy great music! Guests also had the chance to try their luck and take part in interactive activities such as a wine cork pull, a “Take a Chance” Wall and, of course indulge in the delicious specialty custom cocktail – “Tentation”!
