“Mediterranean Style Cruising on the MSC Divina”  by Michele Sikich.

We recently had the opportunity to cruise to Bermuda/Nassau with the MSC Divina, compliments of Dragonfly Meeting Solutions Inc. and the folks at Buy The Sea and MSC Cruises.

This great ship that honours Sophia Loren, holds about 4,000 passengers within a decor of elegance and glamour from the golden age of sea travel and film.Swarovskistairs

The most impressive pieces are the sweeping grace of her Swarovski crystal staircases (“Gone with the wind” has nothing on this!) in the main lobby and her infinity pool, which extends seamlessly out to sea on the upper deck.

We had perfectly beautiful weather to enjoy our private balcony, which graced our room. Daily visits to the world-class gym beside the spa on deck 14 had a wonderful view and kept our waistlines in check after eating exquisitely fresh European pastas and pizza. Also available were a variety of “drink packages” suitable for all palates and satiations.

The Divina also has spectacular entertainment each night at the 1,600 seat Pantheon Theatre, which would also be a spectacular setting for an awards presentation during a conference.

Our most impressive port was that of Bermuda, where we stayed in port for two days. Bermuda-27807

The warm and friendly people, pink sand beaches and history and culture welcomed us. We visited historic St. George – a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE where Bermuda first came to life in 1612. It was here that we discovered the Bermuda Perfumery where we indulged in the most exquisite scents that are hand bottled and packaged… and only available in Bermuda.

In Hamilton, now the capital of Bermuda, we walked along the beautiful harbour; listened to locals wave and greet one another as they met on the streets (as if everyone was a long time friend) and purchased the most succulent pulled jerk chicken sandwich, from a street vendor.

In South Shore, we explored Horseshoe Bay with its spectacular views, secluded coves and pink sand; walked the gardens of the Fairmont and climbed Gibbs Lighthouse which is the oldest cast iron lighthouse in the world (definitely not for those faint of heart on a windy day!).

Thank you Dragonfly and your industry partners for this unforgettable experience!
