During a recent visit to Scottsdale, a member of the Dragonfly team experienced a truly spectacular group activity – the Desert Seaplane Adventure. The 10 passenger Seaplane traveled up the “Apache Trail,” through some of Arizona’s most stunning landscape and made an exciting water landing to tour a small island.
The views were stunning and included the golden canyons of Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Apache Lake, Roosevelt Lake lime cliffs “Painted Desert,” Haystack Island, Tonto National Monument Indian Ruins. There were sightings of Desert Bighorn Sheep as well as wild horses. The pilot entertained and educated with many stories, fun facts and legends of the area. He was well versed with the Legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine, Hopi Legend of the Spires and the Red Cliffs of the Superstitions at Apache Junction.
The seaplane is an excellent way to tour the area, as it can get very close to the vistas. It felt as though you could just reach out and touch the 562 foot tall fountain at Fountain Hills. The tour was breathtaking and the ease of getting to and from the plane is great as it departs and returns to the Scottsdale Airport.
