Two bespoke luxury accommodations that are once in a lifetime experiences for smaller executive or incentive retreats.
Luxury hotel experiences range from high end furnishings to state of the art technology. The following two venues encompass both high end historic and state of the art all within a small footprint of exclusivity.
Knowsley Hall, England
If you want to really experience how royalty live, then a stay at Knowsley Hall is essential. The historic private estate has been in the ownership of the Stanley family since 1385 and is home to Lord & Lady Stanley, the Earl and Countess of Derby.
Situated on 2,500 acres land, this 17-guest room private estate is available for exclusive buyouts only and once you enter through the main gates there is no reason to leave. The estate and all its staff are at your disposal for the entire length of your stay.
All guest rooms have been personally designed by Lady Derby and reflect the history of the home and who knows, you may even stay in the same room that Queen Elizabeth II stays in when she comes to visit.
Dining is provided by the resident chef and his team, whether it is recreating a state banquet or a picnic in the grounds by the lake, all details will be overseen by the house butler.
Activities are limited only by your imagination and range from indoor pursuits of wine tastings and tours of Lord Derby’s cellar, foraging and cooking, gin infusing to jam making; to arts and culture that could include painting classes, art restoration and curating with the in house curator, Shakespeare tours; country pursuits that range from clay pigeon shooting, fishing, horseback riding, archery, falconry, windsurfing/paddle boarding, dragon boat racing, hot air ballooning, bike trails, running trails and more. Then at the end of it retreat to the spa for a treatment or a yoga class either indoors or in the forest. If you do wish to leave the property, Manchester and Liverpool are both within a 30-minute drive.
Knowsley Hall offers historical character and is entrenched in tradition, that not many luxury hotels can boast of.
Fingal Luxury Floating Hotel, Scotland
Located in the historic Port of Leith, Fingal is a luxury 23-cabin floating hotel, permanently berthed on Edinburgh’s vibrant waterfront, close to The Royal Yacht Britannia. Commissioned in 1963 as a lighthouse tender, it helped maintain lighthouses and provided transportation to their keepers, equipment and supplies in some of the most treacherous locations along the Scottish coast.
Purchased in 2014 by The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust, Fingal spent the next four years being redesigned and refurbished into an exquisite and elegant boutique hotel, with elements of its nautical and Scottish heritage.
In addition to being a boutique hotel, Fingal also features a full service restaurant and several private function spaces and is available for exclusive rental. Whether on deck under the sun and stars or in their unique function spaces, it is a once in a life-time venue experience you won’t soon forget.
