A Hidden Gem in Old Montreal

When venue space is rich in design - decor should merely enhance!

Dragonfly recently planned and executed a corporate event at the St James Theatre, one of Montreal’s most prestigious multi-purpose event venues located in the heart of Old Montreal. The St. James Theatre is rich with history, built between 1907 and 1909 to house the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce.

The Imperial Ballroom is the main hall area, complete with 70 feet high walls, marble floors and a suspended stained-glass ceiling. The Dragonfly event was held in the Ballroom space, and featured passed hors d’oeuvres, chef attended food stations, a large interactive bar and a spectacular live band.

Theming the evening between a supper club and a speak easy feel, the creative décor was based on “Emerald Nights”, rich with green, gold, black and white colouring.

The venue was meticulously decorated to enhance the emerald ambiance with lush velvet green couches, gold frame glass tables, green florals and fauna in spectacular gold vases. To capture the guest’s attention and mood immediately, the entrance was laid out with a stunning gold sparkle carpet and a lush boxwood floral wall.

The event was full of spirit, networking and dancing – making it a memorable appreciation evening for all guests who walked through the theatre doors.
