Projekt Spielberg is truly an adrenaline junkie’s paradise. Located in the Murtal holiday region of Austria, with incredible mountain peaks and beautiful meadows, this area has something for everyone, especially with the legendary Red Bull Ring at its center.
Start your visit with checking into one of the local hotels: Hotel Steirerschlössl in Zeltweg, the renowned and tradition-steeped Hofwirt in Seckau, the stately Hotel Schloss Gabelhofen, the G’Schlössl Murtal executed in upscale country-house style with its large spa area, or the Landhotel Schönberghof which offers breathtaking views of the Red Bull Ring.
The area also has many quaint restaurants for you to enjoy local culinary delights. Whether you are in the mood for a traditional local dish, something with an international flare or just a casual pub feel, there is something for everyone.
Spend the next day at the Red Bull Ring.
The race circuit itself was founded as Österreichring and hosted the Formula One Austrian Grand Prix from 1970 to 1987. It was later shortened, rebuilt and renamed the A1 Ring, again hosting the Grand Prix from 1997 to 2003. Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschitz purchased the property, rebuilt and renamed the circuit, “The Red Bull Ring” and it was reopened in May 2011. The Red Bull Ring welcomed the Austrian Grand Prix back in 2014.
While at the Red Bull Ring, you can satisfy your need for speed with one of the adrenaline pumping driving experiences. The parking lot is filled with extraordinary vehicles and bikes, from Formula Renault, KTM X-Bows and high speed off-road vehicles to Enduro and trail bikes.
Whether you choose an on track or off road experience you will not be disappointed. Try the “Go with your Pro” training with motorsport legends, such as David Coulthard, Mark Webber or Mattias Ekström. They will teach you how to handle challenging tracks, sharing their experiences with you while you practice your driving skills. Click here to see some of the extraordinary action. Are you curious to know how the Pit Crews complete those lightning fast pit stops? Then take part in the Impressions Pit Stop Game, where you will learn how to change a tire right on pit road, just like the professionals.
Need a slower pace after your driving challenge? Pick up your clubs and enjoy a round of golf at one of the nearby golf courses where the scenery cannot be beat. Other summer activities include kayaking, cycling, hiking or climbing trails.
This is a four season destination with many winter sport options available as well. From downhill skiing with trail options (extreme to more relaxed and leisurely), to ice climbing adventures, snow shoeing, dogsledding treks, and more leisurely horse drawn sleigh rides. The options are only limited by your desire and imagination.
