A Cirque-tacular Event Space!

One of the most intriguing aspects of working at Dragonfly is the opportunity our clients give us, to think outside the box – creating experiences with a real “wow” factor!

Recently, one of our clients approached us requesting assistance to produce an evening event for their top producers. The city was Montreal, it was a Saturday in late November, and the parameters given to us were “give our people a memorable evening at a venue they will brag about to their friends when they get home… somewhere the every day person wouldn’t be able to go to on their own.”

In true Dragonfly style, we set out researching some seriously unique venues in the Montreal area. The top contender was the Cirque du Soleil International World Headquarters – a Montreal venue that is not only world renowned, but the home and the inception of Cirque du Soleil.

From costume creation, artistic direction and training, this venue is where it all begins for any Cirque performance throughout the world; all artists who join Cirque du Soleil for a new creation train here before joining the show’s cast.  soleil2

Renting the venue for a private takeover is no easy feat; Cirque du Soleil takes much pride in renting their facilities out, and as an Event Planner, you have to essentially create a proposal (which then goes to a board) on why you feel your organization should rent the space.

By all accounts, the diligent process to rent the space is well worth it! 7e Ciel ™ event space at Cirque du Soleil sits at the top of the Headquarters and simply put – there is nothing more than breathtaking. The floor to ceiling glass windows surrounding the space boasts views of Montreal from every angle, the space is spectacular; and the experience from the beginning is nothing short of everything you could imagine from Cirque du Soleil performance.

A jazz band was secured for the evening, setting a perfect ambiance for the cocktail reception.

The hors d’oeuvres were passed in unique ways, from beef sliders on dustpans to wontons served on violins, and there was a very special candy station for the most discerning sweet tooth… the out of the box creativity served by cirque costumed servers was certainly a “wow” for all guests.  The décor featured costumes from previous Cirque Shows – the centre pieces were spectacular!

UntitledTowards the end of the evening, an authentic Cirque performance was featured, followed by a red nose photo shoot where all guests were given a red nose and posed for a group shot.

The evening was incredible, and the client is still raving about the feedback they received from their guests. We would recommend the 7e Ciel tm venue at the top of Cirque du Soleil World Headquarters to any group looking for an out of the box “wow” experience!
