With 8,000 restaurants to choose from, where should you dine in T.O.?

Contributed by Sarah Murray

As much as I travel, when I get home, I am always happy to call Toronto home. When I am away, I eat at endless restaurants….  I can truly say my all time favourite restaurants in the world are right in our own back yard of Toronto!

With the frigid cold temperatures of January, it is no question that we reach for comfort food…  it is so easy with the endless choices in this city of Toronto!

To get through the cold winter months, I thought I would share a few of my all time favourite local restaurants – if you are visiting or are a local, these restaurants are sure to impress!

Corktown Kitchen

354 King St East

Hands down – the ambiance and food will make you feel like you are entertaining in your own home! The moment you walk in, you feel like part of the family business! Each Saturday evening features an impeccable array of features, not ever the same as the last. Their main menu offers amazing culinary delights, good food and service that is definitely worth waiting for!

Le Select Bistro

432 Wellington St West

If you can’t make it to France to experience the real deal, head to Wellington Street any night of the week for a replica of the same authentic culinary experience! The menu offers plentiful French options, including quintessential steak frites – beyond to die for!

Sukho Thai

52 Wellington St East

When I moved to Toronto from a small town, I had never experienced anything more than the same local chain restaurants that populate every town. I had never experienced Thai food! Well, Thai I can say is my favourite delight…  I am a sucker for anything with shrimp and coconut. When I stumbled across Sukho Thai I thought I had died and gone to heaven! This place is my all-time favourite.  With a classy yet relaxed atmosphere, I highly recommend taking some friends (or clients!), ordering a bucket of Singha Beer, Shrimp chips, Pad Thai and Pineapple Shrimp Rice!

Real Sports Bar

15 York Street

Sports bar? Ok so if you know me well, you would think this wasn’t my scene, or what I would define as “fun” …. have I surprised you?! Real Sports Bar is not your every day sports bar.  With North America’s largest screen TV, and over 20 draft beers offer, the scene as you can imagine is full of sports enthusiasts.  And on the menu is the worlds BEST chicken wings (says ME!), chicken sliders that might make you order another batch and the poutine that rivals any Quebec favourite.  I have to say… it’s a match made in heaven for any night of the week!

TOCA at Ritz Carlton Hotel

181 Wellington Street West

Cheese cave! Need I say more!? This restaurant might actually make you fall in love with stinky cheese!

The revamped menu features unbelievable Italian, Canadian and really any classic that might be on your palate! The restaurant is located on the mezzanine level of The Ritz-Carlton Toronto, in the heart of the city’s performing arts & theater district.  And yes, this place even boasts a cheese cave!   Who needs a man cave, when you can have cheese!  You NEED to go and experience it!

I hope you can make an escape from the snow and hit a few of these restaurants, tell them Sarah from Dragonfly sent you…  they might even offer a small discount if you order Champagne!!!
